Our Easter Sunday Table

Today I thought I would share with you our Easter Sunday table.  I'm loving blues and greens and chose to keep with those colors.   There were 9 of us all together and I set places for eight.  Our young grandson usually sits in someone's lap.

In the center of the table I placed a round white serving bowl that sits on a metal carrier.  In that I put an Easter rabbit, grass and pastel colored eggs.  The rabbit is so cute.  I have had it for several years.

On the back of the rabbit is a glass vase to fill with flowers or greenery.  I chose a white daisy and some purple small flowers.

For a tablecloth I relied again on my painters drop cloth.  I used blue placements purchased on clearance from Pier One.

I used white dishes that I have had forever, purchased at Wal-Mart. On top of those I used clear glass dishes for our salad plate.

The green napkins were a gift from a friend.  The silver was a gift from my husband for our fifth wedding anniversary.  I love to use these on special occasions!  The old-fashioned goblets were a gift from my Mom.

The napkin rings were a gift many, many years ago.  I haven't used them much as the initial is for my first name, not my last name.  Sorta odd I think!

For a fun touch and to add more color, I put these darling vintage aqua glass dishes my Mother recently gave me.  These were from her collection that she no longer was using.  At one time she had these hung on a wall along with some other plates.  It was very striking.  I believe they originally were to be used as coasters.  I placed them at each setting and filled them with Easter candy.

The first shots I took only had 3 pieces of candy.  Before the family arrived I added  more as seen in the picture above.

A bigger view of the table.

By the way, I hope to paint these cane-back chairs with white chalk paint soon!  Stay tuned to see the results.

Our Menu for the Day:

Spiral-sliced Ham
Fresh Aspargus
Macaroni and Cheese
Broccoli Oriental Salad
Rolls
Peach Cobbler and Ice Cream
Easter Cupcakes

Can you say Yum?  My mouth is watering again just typing that!  I have to show you the cute cupcakes our daughter made.  And they are displayed so nicely on this cupcake holder!

And a close-up view.

It was beautiful day to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord.  We began the day at church being inspired by stirring music and and an inspiration message.  We then had our family dinner followed by an Easter egg hunt for the grand children.  I thank God that He makes life sweet.

How about you?  What was your Easter Sunday like?

Thanks for stopping by!  I love to read your comments, so do share!  Libby~

A New Buffet and Some Easter Pretty

Hi Friends!  Remember when I showed you my foyer and springtime vignette?  You can see it here.  I mentioned then that I had been on the hunt for months for a buffet for the foyer.  Well, how quickly things can change.   Ta da!!

Isn't it beautiful?  I had been faithfully scouring local ads, thrift stores, estate sales, etc.  I found this listed on eBay classifieds.  Did you knot that eBay has a classifieds website?  This piece has a companion piece too, a china cabinet.  They are from the 1920's and both have been well taken care of and are in really good condition.

I paid $225.00 for both pieces!  That is right, $112.50 each!  For now the china cabinet is on our screened-in back porch.  I had intended to use it in another place in our home but it simply didn't look right.

Now back to the buffet....I updated the table scape with an Easter theme.

I am using the same runner I had on the other chest.  Moved the plant that was in the silver wine cooler and replaced it with these cuttings from a ginormous tree in our back yard.

Don't know the name of the tree but it has sweet white blooms on it.  My husband cut a lot for me and believe me, it didn't make a dent in the appearance of the tree.

I downloaded this awesome He Has Risen printable from Dear Lillie website.  You can get your own for FREE!!  Jennifer has them in several different colors.  Love her and her blog!  She is so talented.

I placed a couple of cutie rabbits in front of the picture with Easter grass and eggs.  The crystal lamp is old but new to me, given to me by my Mom.  The two buffet lamps are in another spot for now.

So what do you think about my new buffet?  I think it fits the foyer so much better than the chest I was previously using.  My plan is to paint the buffet.  I thought long and hard about it.  It is not yet an antique.  It is pretty like it is but I want to update it.  I am planning to use that fabulous chalk paint that everyone is blogging about.  Here it is again.

What color do you think would look good?  White?  Blue?  Green?  Gray?  I would like to use Duck Egg blue.  What are your thoughts?

Thanks for stopping by!  Libby~

My Blue Ceiling

FOR YEARS I have wanted a porch with a blue ceiling.  For some time, I had seen this look in magazines and in other homes.  It seems to totally lift the ceiling and gives you the feeling of being out under a blanket of sky.

Last fall when we repainted our home, I finally got my wish!  Here are some scenes from my front porch.  Unfortunately, no before shots were taken of the ceiling.

I wanted a very soft blue.  An almost....is it blue?  Not a slap you in your face, BLUE!  BOO!

I think the first photo is truest to reality.

While we are out here, let me show you some more of the porch.  The house is painted gray with black shutters.  Although the original plan was to paint the shutters green.  We still may do that.

This is a wicker set we have had for some time.  It previously was white and we spray painted it brown a few years back.  It is really beginning to show some wear.

If you see a thin layer of yellow on everything, that is the pollen we are having to contend with right now.  A by-product of our lovely springs here in Georgia.  A close-up of the pillows I am using right now.

The bottom green cushions stay there year round.  The other pillows I change out according to the seasons.

Close-up of the table.  I love this lantern.  I bought it on clearance at Old Time Pottery because it was missing a glass pane on one side.  I had full intention of getting another one cut.  That was months ago.  Oh well.  This has been nice to use during the shorter days of winter.  When we are expecting company in the evening, I light the candle in it.  Hotter days of summer may mean the candle will melt so I will need to move it.

A full view of the front porch.  My husband designed and built this front porch years ago.  I love the columns on each side.

A friend gave me this wreath for my birthday this year.  I think it is bright and springy!!

Our front door and side lights.

From the front porch, we have a wonderful view of Spring bursting forth before us.

Earlier today, my husband and I sat on the front porch for a while and enjoyed the change in weather as a storm is rolling in.  Maybe the rain will knock off all this yellow pollen!

I am in love, love with my front porch and blue ceiling!  Can you tell?  Do you have a blue ceiling somewhere in your home?  Do share!
